Morning Sickness
Morning sickness is the characteristic nausea experienced by many
pregnant women upon awakening in the morning. Herbs can be very
helpful.
• For minor cases either ginger root or peppermint leaf, taken in tea form, can offer sufficient relief.
• If the problem is more severe, I recommend making ginger tea using fresh ginger (use a garlic press) and honey, then adding powders of pinellia tuber, tangerine peel, poria mushroom, agastache, and cardamon fruit (Sha ren or Amomum species).
• Vitamin B-6, about 10-25 mg. taken up to three times per day helps some women. This should be taken with a pre-natal vitamin, of course.
• For quick temporary relief, it also helps to chew on a piece of lemon or orange peel.
